Saflax Bonsai - Olive Tree

The evergreen olive tree is generally considered undemanding and likes to spend the summer outdoors. This beautiful tree has a gnarled trunk and long, blue-green leaves that shimmer silver due to their white undersides.

• Originally, the olive tree comes from the Mediterranean region, where it has been cultivated since the 4th millennium BC.

Our tips:

• Roughen seeds with a file or sandpaper before sowing and presoak in room-temperature water for 24 hours to improve germination
• Cover growing containers with transparent film and make holes in it so that the soil does not dry out
• Remove the film for two hours every two to three days to prevent mould growth
• Keep growing soil moist, but not wet
• Ideal germination temperature: 20 to 30°C
• Likes a full sun location - also outdoors in summer
• Keep soil slightly moist at all times - avoid waterlogging and severe drought
• Fertilization with a special bonsai fertilizer recommended every two weeks - between October and April do not fertilize
