Sweeter than sugar and almost completely calorie-free, candyleaf is an exciting alternative to conventional sweeteners. The plant can easily be cultivated on the windowsill and is suitable for sweetening drinks and food.
Our tips:
- Germination temperature: 20°C
- Cultivate individually in pots or outdoors at a distance of 25cm
- Always keep the soil moist, but avoid waterlogging
- Requires a deep, humus-rich, loose soil
- Medium fertiliser requirement
- Pick out so that the plant has more leaves and becomes bushier
- Dry, grind, cut or scald leaves after harvesting
- Ideal for diabetics as stevioside does not increase blood sugar levels
