Saflax Mate Tea Bush

Mate is known to many as a caffeinated beverage. Mate tea is made from the evergreen leaves of the mate bush, which are first boiled in water and then dried in the oven before use. Since the plant is not hardy, a partial-shade location indoors is recommended. During the summer months, it is also suitable for outdoors.

Tips for cultivation:

• Roughen seeds with sandpaper
• Allow to soak in water for 24 hours
• Then place approx. 1/2 cm deep in moist potting soil
• Cover with cling film and provide it with holes
• Remove the film every two to three days for 2 hours
• Keep the substrate moist but not wet
