Saflax African Baobab

The African Baobab is instantly recognisable thanks to its distinctive shape. In its natural habitat, it can live for up to 4,000 years. The thick trunk stores significant amounts of water, allowing it to survive through long periods of drought. It can be easily cultivated at home as a potted plant, where it can reach a height of up to 2 meters. Native to tropical Africa, it loves warmth and sun above all else and needs a bright spot indoors or in a conservatory to flourish.

Tips for cultivation:

• Pour boiling water over the seeds and soak for one day
• Then plant them 1 cm deep in moist potting compost
• Keep the soil moist (not wet)
• Germination can take three to seven weeks
• Visible growth above the ground usually appears after about 13 weeks
