Description
Radicchio is a well-known Italian specialty salad for cultivation in the autumn. It has a nutty, tart, aromatic flavor. The plants have green outer leaves at first but as they mature they form layered, round heads with attractive, dark wine-red leaves with decorative white veins. They are used to add color to mixed salads or are seasoned with onions and served with Italian dressing. 'Indigo' is characterized by rapid, strong growth. The plants are resistant to brown leaf edges and bolting.
