Decorative white variegated leaves. Lush compact growth and abundant flowering. Long duration flowering for beds, rock gardens, and balcony. Height 30 cm. Annual.
The alaska mixture is among the most popular low nasturtiums, with flowers clearly visible above the foliage. This growth, however, has another advantage: the prettily marked white colorful foliage is very ornamental. They look beautiful especially in the rock garden, on walls, in trays, pots and in the flower bed.
The flowers last from August to November and are only stopped by stronger frosts. From the delicate yellow to orange to red colors, the warm colors range in friendly, sunny tones.
- The flowers smell nice and are popular with many beneficial insects. They keep well in vases. The leaves and flowers are edible and make for a spicy, vitamin-rich salad.
- The immature seeds can be placed in a brine as a substitute for capers.
- Nasturtium is also used in organic gardening: planting them in a tree disc protects them from lice and caterpillars.
