Description

Crocuses are related to Iridaceae (Iridaceae). Their species are native to Asia, Europe and North Africa. There are many varieties that can be summarized under the term crocus hybrids. The name crocus comes from Greek and stands for the thread, with respect to the mostly yellow stigma. Saffron comes from a kind of crocus (Crocus sativus) that blooms in the fall.
