Description

Hollyhocks are a must-have in any any cottage garden and are excellent as solitary plants in perennial beds as well as against house walls. Their blossoms are not only beautiful to look at, but are also edible - add to salads, punches, or teas. With its striking black flowers, this hollyhock is a unique eye-catcher that is guaranteed to attract attention.

Our tips:

  • Sow seeds in a window box between May and July and plant out in the garden in autumn
  • Loosen the soil well before planting out, as hollyhocks form taproots
  • Plant against walls or provide a climbing aid
  • Fertilise regularly in the second year
  • Ensure evenly moist soil
  • Water several times a day during longer dry periods
  • Provide good support in locations that are not sufficiently sheltered
  • Fully bloomed calyxes can be dried
