The ready-to-use trap system is a very effective method for controlling the infestation of codling moth on fruit trees. The pheromone (natural sexual attractant) attracts male codling moth butterflies, which then stick to the glue base of the trap. Thus the females remain unfertilised and do not lay eggs from which the harmful caterpillar (maggot) hatches.

Experience has shown that a sufficient reduction in infestation is achieved if a trap is used for 3 to 5 trees in the immediate vicinity.
