Kiepenkerl Broad Bean "Hangdown", Green Seeds

This green-seeded edible variety can be harvested when the seeds are ripe but still somewhat milky and soft. They can be used fresh or frozen. When cooked or dried, the seeds turn brownish in colour.

Our tips:

• Thin out seedlings soon after germination
• Sow earlier for greater resistance to the bean aphid
• Mound up the soil around young plants for better stability
• Important for crop rotation, as they bind nitrogen from the air
• After harvesting, remove seeds from the pods, blanch and remove the husks
