Bionana Organic Large Nettle

The nettle is a jack-of-all-trades that can be used both as a medicinal plant and for teas and to flavour soups. The young plants are also suitable for use as green manure and for mulching and composting.

Our tips:

• Requires moist, nutrient-rich soil
• Self-seeds vigorously and also spreads vegetatively via root runners - putting down barriers is recommended
• Leaves taste best when tender and young
• Older parts of the plant are well suited for composting and as fertiliser - preferably before the plant bears seeds
• Heavy consumer of nutrients
• Suitable for balconies
• True to type seeds
• Good neighbours: goutweed
• Crop rotation: 4 years
