Bionana "Cartan" Organic Romaine Lettuce

This variety makes large, dark green heads with a strong leaf structure and a white rib in the middle. The leaves have a crisp, mild taste; the inner ones are more tender than the outer ones. They are a very special treat both raw in salads and steamed.

Our tips:

• Requires loose, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil
• Prefers a nutrient-poor substrate
• Light germinator - do not cover seeds with soil, just press lightly
• In the case of direct sowing in the open air, initially protect with fleece or foil
• No fertilisation necessary
• A good water supply is necessary until the heads are formed, then less watering is possible
• When harvesting, cut off near the ground with a knife
• Can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days
• Requires medium nourishment
• Strong seeds
• Suitable for balconies
• Moderately hardy
• Good neighbours: leeks, fennel, beetroot, tomatoes, cabbages
• Bad neighbours: parsley, celery, cucumber
• Crop rotation: 3 to 4 years
